‘The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system’.

Gary Craig

EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques or ‘Tapping’. It is a gentle yet powerful mind-body method. It is an alternative treatment for emotional distress, physical pain, bad memories, trauma treatment and stress release method.

It combines a gentle touch together with mindful and vocal attention to thoughts and feelings. This leads to uncovering ‘hidden’ memories, experiences underlying and influencing our current state. By revealing them, we allow our subconscious to develop a new way of seeing ourselves and our experiences.  Emotional Freedom Techniques is a form of counselling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine – including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine and Thought Field Therapy (developed by dr Roger Callahan).

A little bit about EFT

EFT combines the physical benefits of acupressure with the cognitive benefits of conventional therapy for much faster, more complete treatment of emotional issues, and physical and performance issues.

Emotional Freedom Techniques supports you with creating space for the movement and seeing the next step. We go beyond solving problems, and start removing the obstacles in our way which offers a lasting effect and embrace you with resources to face future challenges.

According to its developer, Gary Craig, a disruption in energy is the cause of all negative emotions and pain. It is believed that restoring this energy balance can relieve symptoms a negative experience or emotion may have caused. The goal isn’t to remove the uncomfortable emotion but to give an appropriate emotional reaction in a situation. For example it is absolutely normal to feel fear when facing a tiger. But the same fear seems exaggerated when facing a difficult conversation, or just doing everyday tasks.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) helps reduce stress, anxiety and it can allow us to transform the way we respond to uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and troubling memories. EFT is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It can also be beneficial for a person before an event that they expect to cause stress or anxiety.

What EFT can help you with*

Just to list some of the areas where EFT is helpful:

  • stress management
  • phobias
  • trauma
  • fear
  • anxiety
  • emotional part to physical issues
  • lack of confidence
  • low self-esteem, self-love
  • anger management
  • weight loss
  • clear patterns of self-sabotage
  • future events

* it isn’t limited to these issues only

How?

You come to the session with a problem, or obstacle you’d like to work on. After looking at it closely, we create a statement to start working with. This beginning statement will help us to uncover what is holding you back. As you allow yourself to release the tension you’ve been holding onto, you will find the solution to your situation. Whether it is in a concrete action or simply changing your attitude toward the problem, you’ll feel lighter and more connected.

By tapping on the main meridian points you will notice the shifts in you, and you will feel empowered and free of unpleasant memories causing you to feel stuck.

What to expect from/after the session?

As EFT is using the SUDS (Subjective Units of Disturbance Scale) you will be able to measure the progress and the change. At the end of an EFT session you will notice the difference between how you felt at the beginning of the session and how you feel at the end.

NOTE: While EFT seems to have supported remarkable changes in many emotional & physical issues to date it should not be used instead of appropriate medical care. You should always consult your doctor before using any form of self-treatment.
